Here’s a great way to use up any crusty bread that’s getting a little too crusty. I had some baguettes that were past their prime, so I decided to please my crouton-loving son and make some homemade croutons. Garlicky, salty yumminess!
Homemade Croutons

Ingredients
- Baguette cubed into 1/2″ squares
- Generous olive oil
- 2 Tbsp onion powder
- 2 Tbsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp parsley
Instructions
- Cube the bread into bite-sized squares, about 1/2″ square. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl with your hands. Combine until all bread is coated with the olive oil. Spread onto a baking sheet. Broil in the oven for just a few minutes until golden brown.
- Serve over salad.
Notes
- Any leftover crusty bread will work for this recipe. I’d love to try black pumpernickel next time! Leftovers can be frozen in a Ziploc bag. Just dispense the desired amount of croutons as needed. It will defrost very quickly.
