Through circumstances recently, I’ve been reminded of the gaping hole in the human heart that only God can fill.  In an earthly sense, we have to wait a little longer for the harvest of delicious crops and gardens.  But in the spiritual realm, the souls of men are white already to be harvested.  We only need spiritual perception and sensitivity to see when that seed is ready.  Some plant, some till the ground, some reap, but God gives the increase.  As we watch the harvest come in, as we enjoy...

If you have a young boy, do you have this problem?  My son likes to keep his Lego set packaging so that he can look at the pictures.  I guess it’s like a magazine for him.  The problem is, of course, that it’s a mess of broken down boxes that keep his room from looking nice and neat.  Well, I had an idea. I needed to turn this pile of boxes… … into a more organized apparatus like this…   Using ModgePodge, I glued some fabric...

One of my favorite verses of the Psalms.  The Psalmist reminds us that it is alright to stop our overloaded schedules and take time to meditate on God’s Word.  Indeed, it is necessary!  In Christianity, meditation is not disengaging the mind, but rather focusing the mind on God’s character and what He has told us.  Laying aside distractions is a essential part of growth.  Pulling the weeds that threaten to choke out our joy and peace is necessary.  Vance Havner once said, “If you don’t...

The girls’ quilts are done! My #3 and #4 girls share a room.  Although they are not twins, they were born in the same year.  Last year I decided to do their quilts in tandem so neither one of them would have to wait a whole year until theirs in done.  I did the same pattern but different colors for each girl.  One was pink with light green accents, and the other was dark purple with dark green accents.  It worked out beautifully and with my schedule it took about a year to do.   The pattern is...

Yesterday it seemed like my children were in trouble all day long.  It was a long day.  I wondered if I’m doing this right.   Are my expectations too high?  Have I not expected enough?  I want to believe that my own parenting style is fine because I can see parents who are more permissive than I on the one hand, and on the other hand I can see parents who are more overbearing than I am.  So I must be ok, right?  In light of the so called...

“No big deal.  You’ll do fine! It’s just Kindergarten.”   Everyone tried to reassure me that I had nothing to worry about.  My husband was very encouraging and didn’t even doubt a bit that I’d be able to pull it off.  Yeah right, I thought.  When I was faced with my first time being a homeschooling mom, it was the Kindergarten year for my son.  I had never been a school teacher, and I never desired to be one.  I had never been homeschooled.  I had always...
