Homemade croutons

Here’s a great way to use up any crusty bread that’s getting a little too crusty.  I had some baguettes that were past their prime, so I decided to please my crouton-loving son and make some homemade croutons.  Garlicky, salty yumminess!

Ingredients
  1. Baguette cubed into 1/2" squares
  2. Generous olive oil
  3. 2 Tbsp onion powder
  4. 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  5. 2 Tbsp parsley
Instructions
  1. Cube the bread into bite-sized squares, about 1/2" square. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl with your hands. Combine until all bread is coated with the olive oil. Spread onto a baking sheet. Broil in the oven for just a few minutes until golden brown.
  2. Serve over salad.
Notes
  1. Any leftover crusty bread will work for this recipe. I'd love to try black pumpernickel next time! Leftovers can be frozen in a Ziploc bag. Just dispense the desired amount of croutons as needed. It will defrost very quickly.
