This was a fun quilt to design.  It wasn’t so easy to piece together, though.  In the end it was worth the effort. I’m in the mood to use up my scraps and stashed fabrics, so I wanted to do something with all of those old jeans I had saved.  The hexagons and triangles gave a nice texture to the quilt.  It gives it a kaleidoscope look.  I really love that!  The hard part was just getting that denim material to cooperate.  Some jeans were thick, some were thin.  Some were stretchy and some...

It was my son’s turn for a new quilt on his bed.  He was the lucky recipient of my very first attempt at quilting.  But now as a 9 year old boy, he had outgrown Bob the Builder fabric and Thomas the Train.  So he chose this American flag design from “Piece ‘n’ Play Quilts” by Judy Martin.  There are several really neat designs in the book!  So I spent quite a lot of time making flying geese for the stars.  I found a short way to churn out lots of flying geese which I loved.  I...

A month ago I planned to sew together a gift to give to my parents who were coming for a visit near the time of their birthdays.  I also wanted to send with them home with a throw blanket for my grandma who is home-bound and whose birthday was also coming up.  The days clicked by, and my parents’ visit was suddenly upon me!  I had just...
